Apathy
I am INCREDIBLY disappointed in the Blogger app. I downloaded it to my phone, then when I tried to publish a GREAT post about the second amendment, it "force closed" on me! So from this point on, I will stricly be blogging from my computer. Call me old fashioned.
Following Veteran's Day yesterday, I would like to dedicate this post to our fallen heroes...the ones who made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of freedom.
We enjoy many liberties thanks to them....those liberties, however, may now be in jeopardy.
Will we stand by and accept our fate, negating the sacrifices made by so many soldiers and their families? Or will we give them the ultimate thank-you, and stand up for our rights?
It's time to regain control of your own thoughts. Do your research, don't just listen to mainstream media. The few people who control what you see on TV are now swaying "undecided voters", and have had a heavy hand in our last several elections. Why is this? Why would someone rely so heavily on what the media tells them is fact and not investigate for themselves? With the wealth of information out there, it's a good question to ask.
The sad truth is, Americans in general have become lazy. We figure, it's the government's job. We should trust them to do it. The thing is, our forefathers never meant for the federal government to control our lives. Americans were meant to govern themselves. This was why the militia fought so vigorously for freedom from their oppresors. But in this day in age, most don't feel that's the way our country should operate. We look to the government to save us in a crisis. We look to the government to pass laws that are in our best interests (but barely bat an eye when they pass one that isn't). We've become a nation that believes "things will sort themselves out in time," not understanding that the longer we allow injustice, the more difficult it is to conquer. We MUST stand up for the rights that are being violated, or lost them altogether.
So what can we do at this point? First, do your research. Know your Constitutional rights and when they are being violated. Know your candidates, and what they REALLY stand for. Take time to understand proposals and other items you're voting on. Second, get out and vote when you have the opportunity. The presidential election only happens every four years. Too many rights can be taken away in four years...and that's a lot of power to put in the hands of someone who doesn't have the nation's best interests at heart. Finally, take time to fall back in love with your country again. This generation has become apathetic. Seventy years ago, you would not have seen such disinterest (bordering on disdain). People loved this country. They were patriots. And if they didn't love this country, they went somewhere else. Like France.
My hope is that you'll read this, and realize maybe you fall into this category of people. And if you do, perhaps the following images will remind you why this nation is so fantastic, why our liberties are worth protecting...and why we need to get back to our roots. God Bless America!
